Two Interviews with Hon. Judith H. Wizmur (Judge Judy Wizmur)

In this oral history, Judge Judith H. Wizmur describes her childhood in Budapest, Hungary and her parents’ experiences during World War II. She tells the story of her family’s journey crossing the Hungarian border to Austria and then arriving in the United States when she was seven years old. She speaks about attending Douglass College from 1967 to 1971 during the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. Wizmur also speaks on graduating from Rutgers-Camden School of Law, working as an associate at Lewis Katz, how she became an administrative law judge, and her journey to being appointed a bankruptcy judge for the District of Delaware. Finally, she discusses learning bankruptcy law, presiding over casino cases, and establishing the Bankruptcy Pro Bono Program at Rutgers.
