Mission & Vision
My grandmother’s stories were never linear. They came in fragments, a town outside Budapest she could no longer name, neighbors who vanished overnight, silence where someone she loved once stood. Born in Hungary, she survived the post-Holocaust world as a young girl, but much of what she knows was told to her by her parents, not remembered firsthand. By the time the stories reached me, they had passed through yet another generation, compressed into half-sentences and long pauses.
What began as a curiosity became a responsibility. I started researching our family’s history, piecing together Hungarian archives, collecting photographs of relatives I would never meet, watching family members’ interviews, and more to reconstruct what had been lost. I aim for my website to be a tool in connecting family members now and for generations to come by creating a living archive. Each discovery recovering something fragile but essential, a truth that might otherwise have disappeared.
Core Values: Faith, Compassion, and Togetherness
History is not just something we inherit—it is something we interpret and give meaning to. We recognize how easily narratives can be simplified or erased and more importantly, the role individuals can play in preserving complexity and resisting that erasure. Listening carefully is itself a form of action, one that requires patience and a willingness to sit with ambiguity.
